Keeping it Real

Blogs are a bit unfair. I can read a blog for months before ever reading an "I don't know..." or an "I'm a cruddy housekeeper...". It's the beauty of writing, a blogger can omit whatever she chooses to. Perhaps you'll get a bit more information if your blogger is a Tweeter, but unless it's an "It's Real Life" blogfest at Jessica's blog, you won't see pictures of a less-than-immaculate home.

But I aim to please. Or disappoint, whatever...

In an effort to keep it real, here's a look at my life. It rained last week and I didn't do laundry for a few days. If you can't see it, that's two laundry baskets, nearly every towel in the house, and a full drying rack of clean laundry.
Since were're flying to the US in just 11 days, I'm cleaning like a mad woman. You know, unless I'm blogging or something. *sheepish grin*

And when you're Momma to a newborn and a three year old? Sometimes you look like this. In fact, unless you make a concerted effort o combat this look, you'll sport it more often than not. Ew...

Keepin it real ...

Housework calls screams.

  1. My Gram always said, it doesn't matter if your house isn't perfect.. It matters if your kids are happy... Yours are.. you are great..

  2. Thanks for keeping it real. I always appreciate it when people are honest about their marriage, housework or bible reading. If we don't have post like this then I feel even more mommy guilt that I must be the only one struggling with being a perfect parent.

I'm sure my house would be a lot cleaner if I didn't blog or read blogs but I take comfort in the fact that "A clean house is a sign of a wasted life"

I must admit that I am so guilty of this... nobody wants to see things a mess at my house... or so I think.

So I try to un-clutter the table before taking the Mother's Day flower photos.

Or take photos of people without getting views of the unfinished projects in our home... I think it is out of a need to not be judged by someone else.

You know what? I am gonna try to keep it more real. Afterall its the real life blogs and posts that interest me the most...

ps. thanks for keeping it real.

  5. I like the "real" you. I'm there many a time and let's face it unless we are perfectionistic everyone is there at one time or another. Take good care. Praying for a safety and health on your trip for your family.
    Blessings

  6. Hey, like you've said, you have a three year old and a newborn. It's perfectly acceptable to have a little mess here and there. I don't have any kids and I ran out of clean socks today and had to borrow some from my brother. =P

Praying for you and your gorgeous family,
    Chloe

  9. oh my - we have a side by side washing machine and dryer now, and our living room is still stacked with laundry. More and more I think the clothes go straight from the clean basket, to our backs, and then back to be washed again.
If you move fast, people won't see the wrinkles! I am glad I am not the only one losing the laundry battle. Good luck for your trip - hope you have a wonderful visit!

  10. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I sported that look for at least 10 months, pretty much every day...and now that morning sickness, and major fatigue are hitting me full force, I'm pretty sure it's been rearing it's ugly head again...I get so used to sitting around in mis matched jammies all day though, i barely notice anymore...

  12. My house looks like this so much of the time. I just don't post pictures of it:) And I don't have a new baby either. You are living life Susie and this is part of it. Clean and tidy houses make me edgy:)

    Love and Hugs, Laurie
PS. I can't believe how much your kids look alike. It is amazing. They are beautiful, all 3 of them.

  14. My house is kid-less and looks worse, so you must be an amazing housekeeper by my standards. One of these days, like when I quit working and kick Adam out for at least two days, my house will be perfect, for a few hours, maybe :)

  19. HA! Your pile of laundry got NOTHIN' on MY pile of laundry!!!! And I don't even have a lack of clothes dryer to blame.

To quote Phyllis Diller, "Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing up is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing."

that was a very refreshingly honest lil post and I'd like to thank you for it!! Some blogs I'd bookmarked a while ago were making me feel so inadequate whenever I visited them that in the end I had to delete them from my bookmarks sidebar.
I'm also all for keepin it real!
    Go girl :-D
    And thank you. Again.
