Sunday morning thoughts

Lock the pantry door when your child becomes old enough to open it. If you can. I cannot. This is the main reason I found a dozen eggs scrambled on my kitchen's tile floor yesterday afternoon. Good thing I was in a good mood and didn't freak out on the child (who swiftly got to spend some quality time in her naughty chair). But it was the full tray that Matt had purchased less than 24 hours before. That's alright, at least this way I won't be tempted to bake.

Apparently pulled pork from Pioneer Woman's recipe, is a great meal. However, should you be pregnant and prone to indigestion, it's not a wise choice. You will spend the following 5 hours burping in front of your dinner guests. Ew.
******
Should you find something icky in your house (of a creepy crawly nature) and you have an odd personality like me, you will spend the next 45 minutes cleaning the area with disinfectant and proceed to mop the floor on your hands and knees at 12:30 at night. Followed by hanging up a load of laundry on the drying rack, starting another one, and putting out the garbage.
******
My ultrasound (20 weeks, actually 19 1/2 weeks) will be Thursday the 13 of November at 4pm. This is about 1am, the 13th of November (EST) if you should feel the need to pray with us for a perfect ultrasound.
******
My intentions for the afternoon (after church) include a car show (to get out) and picking up the stroller I bought on an online auction. I am very excited about this stroller because it's 1) the brand I wanted, 2) in "perfect condition", 3) black and lime green (they made a stroller in my fav colors!??!?!, and 4) it was about $125 cheaper than I had intended to spend! (Keep in mind that it's a jogging stroller, plastic wheel strollers are essentially useless if they are used in a country that doesn't have much sidewalk..., oh, and the exchange rate is 60cents USD to 1.00 NZD).
Maybe now I can stop stalking the online auctions daily. Uh. Hourly...
******
After the mention of hot dark chocolate, and turning away trick or treater's because I had no candy I ended up down at the grocery store buying a block of dark chocolate. Dark chocolate Hot Chocolate is on my list of things to do. As is dipping strawberries in dark chocolate. Oh, enjoy your fall foliage Northern Hemisphere suckers - I've got strawberries in season!
******
While I don't celebrate Halloween, I do give away candy (normally, but had no spare change 2 hours before the doorknocking) as it's the only day a year the children of the neighborhood knock on MY DOOR, wanting something FROM ME (except those pesky child salespeople...). As a child my mother insisted on passing out Christian stickers or tracts. I haven't gone that far, but ToTing's not that big here.

Four dry nights in underwear. I could be me, I do have a pregnant bladder that wishes to be emptied often. But actually I'm talking about a certain little 2 year old who has woken up dry 4 days in a row. The first time was an accident! We left her home with Havalah for the night, who put her to bed (brushed her teeth, made her go to the toilet, but forgot a diaper) and she was dry the next morning! The previous morning (and every other morning I ever rememer, save one about a month ago) she's been wet. Out of sheer curiousity (and because I just LOVE doing laundry all the time) I put her to be in undies again. I should mention we don't have training underwear (heavier thickness to "absorb" a little extra liquid), we just have the cutsie Cinderella underwear and thin stuff of that nature. Dry! 4 days in a row! I must admit, every morning when I hear her start to whine to be picked up, I think she'll be wet. But we have a routine now - "Good morning sweetie!", rip off the covers, hand touches the back of the undies. When dryness is discovered, "Wow! You stayed dry all night! Momma's so proud! Give me fives!".
******
Then I pick her up, walk down the stairs (trying not to let her heavy 30 lb body push against my panicked full bladder) and to the bathroom. She uses her potty, I use mine. And we both sigh in relief. (She sleeps about 10-11 hours a night, so that's pretty huge! I'm so excited!)
******
To the poster who wanted to know my thoughts on a Canon Rebel XTi: I love it. It's a grat camera with possibilities for lots of "expansion". I don't know much about cameras, but am learning quickly. We bought it on the recommendation of a Matt's college roommate, Adam, who is a pro photographer. We woudln't have known to pick it on our own. I can say the kit lens is as American Mum said, "about as useful as a paperweight", but a new lens will fix change that. Hello Christmas List!
******
I L-O-V-E the 5lb bucket of fruit I got the other day. Now I'll just have to eat it. Oh darn!
******
I waited until I had vacuumed my living room floor to start scrapbooking on it. I'm such a weirdo.

And that concludes this morning's thoughts....

  2. Out of curiosity, do you change "hours" (ie: daylight saving time) in NZ? I can't remember if my folks did it in England when they ministered there. Again - just curious!

    Enjoy your posts!

  7. I swear Susie, Samuel acts up WAY more with me than he does with Josh. When Josh says something the first time, he listens. I don't know what the heck the difference is. I am so confused. He does do some naughty things when he is with Josh, but that is Josh's fault because he falls asleep. I think it is because Josh plays with Samuel mostly, I have to do cleaning, cooking, and all that fun stuff so he knows there will be at least 5 minutes or more of a day where I am not paying attention. I yell and scream too. How couldn't you? I know about the tantrums. OH LORD, why don't these kids come with manuals? I am definitely more prepared for #2!
