It would be a different kind of name for this little one. But I experienced something different with this baby.

The first time I felt Oceana move, I was 17 weeks pregnant. My OB was checking her heartrate and Oceana kicked the doppler - the OB said, "Didn't you feel that?" I didn't, and then she did it again. And it hurt! I probably had felt her before, but didn't know what to look for.

With Joshua I felt him first at 11 weeks. It was a very light touch. He was always a slider, not so much a kicker. His feet would slide along my sides. In fact in the last few weeks of my pregnancy he would even let me rub the sides of his feet. He never really kicked me.

I wasn't sure if I had felt the baby yet. But the other day in the car this little one did a flip. I didn't realize till it was over what had happened. But then the baby did it again that night, or the next night.

FlipFlop. Cute, right?

  1. Too cute! Isn't that an amazing feeling? I'm just starting to feel flutters from our little one. I wonder what doing flips in utero will mean personality-wise?? :)

  2. So sweet! My youngest was our "flipper". She came out busy & so far has stayed busy.

I think your new "name" is absolutely, 100% perfect.

  3. Don't you just love the first time you feel the baby move? It is the best feeling ever.

Maybe "Flip Flop" is trying out for a part in your Christmas Dance @ church?!?!? l.o.l :)

  5. Super cute! I am so excited for you guys!

  8. Hi Susie- I'm still such a lurker but have been computerless for a while so CONGRATS ON THE NEW LITTLE ONE~! I just wanted to ask if you've thought about home birth? I understand Joshua, obviously, but you seem like such the type to be into it~!

I had my son in a hospital ( i know its different in the US though..) and a never going back~! I became a doula so I've really seen some amazing home births :)

Just curious - since we all know you're not scared of the pain :)

    much love and peace-

You're story of God's power in your lives is wonderful to hear.
Also I'm a Canadian, who lived in NZ for 7 years...married a Kiwi, first four children (out of 6) are little Kiwis. NZ is truly a picture of beauty in God's creation! LOVE hearing about lemons tree, fish n' chips, "jandles", etc.!
    God bless...
