Not too shabby

I just finished up my first Alchemy project, on Etsy. This is supposed to resemble the child emperess' dress in Never Ending Story. We obviously didn't do the long train/christening gown looking thing, but I love how it turned out.

Part of the excitement of Alchemy is that often the designs requested don't match a specific sewing pattern. This dress is particular did not look like other dress designs. So I took a bodice pattern from one of Oceana's dresses and make it longer and wider. The sleeve was from a basic short sleeve, so that had to be made longer, wider, and with a pointy "medieval" sleeve. The collar wasn't like anything else, so this week I learned the beauty of bias-cut casings. :)

And lots and lots and lots of beading. :) As you can see. I had a lot of fun, and I'm really happy with the final design. Just hope the buyer is as well.
