No worse for the wear

As you can see, Naomi is right back to being her usual self, minus the big [looks like heart surgery] bandage. We had the girls' birthday party at a local park yesterday afternoon - a low-key deal with friends, cupcakes, and a playground full of entertainment.

We'd postponed the party from the week before, so the 3 dozen+ cupcakes I made were just a little overkill [as people had other commitments/sickness/forgot]. But the girls had a grand old time. And I've decided that bright pink tutus work great for spotting your kids in a large park. They were definitely the *only* little girls in bright pink/yellow tutus. :)

I made the girls matching birthday shirts - with their birthday number (you can see part of Oceana's pink "4") and a ruffle cupcake (under her left arm). Of course I don't have a single good shot of either shirt... I'll have to put that on the list of things to do.

I also have to point out that none of those candles were lit (this time). The purple star ones were lit the other day, but the pink and yellow ones? Yeah, never lit. It was really windy (the park is right on the harbor, so it's gorgeous, but nearly always windy). Oceana was a really good sport and with the help of Hanya (I believe it's the Dutch spelling of Hannah) "blew out" her candles without flames.

Delicious chocolate cake recipe coming soon. It's one of those throw-it-together-don't-bother-sifting-it-because-it's-always-amazing kind of cakes. :) I like those. Box mix cakes are so expensive here. I haven't made a cake from a box in over 4 years. From scratch cakes take the... err... cake.

And on a side note: I'm really excited that I got some good shots from the party. Because I was busy keeping track of kidlets, shooing seagulls away from the cupcakes [Finding Nemo: "You're RATS with WINGS!"], and chatting with friends, I didn't take nearly as many photos as I wanted to. But I'm happy with what I did get.
