That'll teach ya!

I began the day with a lot of messy hair

It's been irritating me lately, but I've been putting of getting it cut. Haircuts are often on my "when I have the extra cash" list, or the "my sister is getting married and I can't look like a scrub" list. I haven't had a cut in ... ahem ... several months. Ok. Probably more like 8.

I've been tossing the idea around of cutting it myself - returning to my college/university days when I'd get sick of it, slice some off in front of the mirror and carry on. I'd stopped in the last 2 years, since I got a few scathing tongue-lashings from hairdressers for my sins. :)

But I blocked out those hairdressers words and principles this afternoon. I cut my own hair.

I was doing pretty well, considering that I was using a pair of scissors in front of a small bathroom mirror.

Except for one thing.

I had both girls with me. Naomi was "over" it. She wanted to be held and was crying on the floor, hanging off of my legs. Oceana kept coming in and talking to me, over the noise of the insistent baby on the floor.

So I decided to hurry it up a bit.

Oops.
I think I'll have to pin up the front of my hair for... a year. I cut two huge chunks out at the crown, leaving me with an attractive blonde .... mushroom ....
So pinned up it shall stay.

Because in my haste I've also shorn off my chance for a ponytail..

All I needed was another 5 minutes of peace and quiet.

I'll blame the girls for the mishap.

I'm having it trimmed up in a day or two, but in the meantime, I'll just rock the mushroom-mullet.

  1. I think it looks pretty good, Susie. I would never even attempt to do that, I'd end up bald.

  2. At least you have the distractions to blame, I've done similar with no distractions, and no one else to blame, except for the fact I was 15 at the time. I do still cut it myself most the time now, just for money's sake, but only trims, never more than trims, or adding bangs, I'm too afraid of having to chop it crazy short to fix it.

  3. Believe it or not, I wouldn't change a thing. This "new do" accentuates your eyes and is very flattering.
