I love hydrangeas. They're pretty. :)
I wanted blue flowers at my wedding, but back before my knowledge of hydrangeas, I thought blue flowers didn't really exist.
I wish I'd known about hydrangeas, I'd have had them on my wedding day!
Oh well, my roses looked great!
But I have a love for hydrangeas, because of Joshua.
They are my Joshua flower.
You may remember [if you've been around that long] that we put blue hydrangeas on Joshua's casket.
The reason being:
In December, when we were expecting Joshua [and had discovered he wasn't going to be "fixable"], hydrangeas were in full bloom. Everywhere I went there were hydrangeas - along every road, in people's yards, as fencing, in stores for sale, etc.
I told myself then that if we had to have a funeral - God forbid - I wanted blue hydrangeas.
So when they were in bloom again in March, when we lost Joshua, I made sure we got blue hydrangeas for his funeral.
Now, 2 years later, every blue hydrangea bush makes me think of Joshua.
That's why I had to create a hydrangea Bouncing Blossom.
For Joshua.
Very pretty.. I also love hydrangea's. My niece is getting married in June and she is having them in her wedding.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautifully adorable Susie....love the color and the flower too!!! THey make me think of Joshua too :)
ReplyDeleteMy mom always had blue hydrangeas in our front yard, right next to the front step, growing up. They didn't go with my colors, so I had white ones instead at my wedding, and white lilacs for my grandma who'd left us right before I got engaged. Flowers bring back awesome memories because they affect so many senses. I can smell a lilac and think of grandma.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. I didn't realize the backstory on your love of hydrangeas. They ARE gorgeous! What a sweet way to keep Joshua's memory alive as well.
ReplyDeleteThe Hydrangea bouncing blossom is our favourite :) Thanks for sharing it Susie.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to get a good photo to send you, but oh so often the tutu is all Bridie has on. Not sure you want the boobies shot too?!
I love blue hydrangeas also. I remember that you chose those for Joshua...

I'll enjoy my blooming hydrangea a bit more this spring....
ReplyDeleteLove it! We had hydrangeas in our wedding. They bloom at a different time here on the other side of the world. So, they are always in bloom for your Joshua!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to remember him. I use my mom's initials in some of my passwords, makes me think of her when I use it.
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely. I love them, too.
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile because I have a Jordan orchid :)
ReplyDeleteOh. This is so sweet. Hydrangeas are beautiful, and so was your Joshua.
ReplyDeleteI remember the beautiful flowers that adorned his casket. I lost so much when our computer was stolen last year...they took all my pictures. Maybe there's some on your blog I can find.
