*****Our 3rd Anniversary *****
Black is good. It's my friend. It disguises stuff.
And the lime and majenta together... that's thanks to a girl I used to work with.I stole her idea She taught me to wear lots of corresponding bright colours together.
So they made us sign a contract that said we had to follow all the directions, do everything, and notkill verbal abuse them for being creative pains-in-the-rear. I signed. Matt did too, but he signed "J. Edgar Hoover". I thought I married Matthew Sams... hmmm....
They gave us a group of envelopes - with numbers. It's was totally "Amazing Race - The Date" and we headed off for our first destination. We went to a park, read the Bible together, had a minor disagreement about what it meant, and then went into town. The disagreement wasn't a part of the date. We were supposed to swing on the swings, and be "childish", but forgive me - there were parents there. And as a parent, I'm always a big peeved with the "big kids" or teenagers who come over and take the equiptment away from MY kid. So I refused to do that.
In town we had some food, bought $2 store presents for each other, told someone it was our anniversary, and skipped over the whole "dance in the Rose Gardens to the iPod hooked to speakers" thing. Yeaaaah... take the poll on the side bar regarding THAT one. :)
*Matt gave me a coffee cup that had "Romantic" written all over it and a pic of some cutie-kids.
*I gave Matt a bumper sticker that said, "Work is for people who don't know how to play golf". It made him laugh, so I was happy. I told him to put it up at work and he asked if that meant he was bad at golf...
He's not - for the record.
It was a great evening, but cold! :) It was really cool to spend some time together, minus Oceana. Love the baby to pieces, but we are almost strictly parents when we have her around - so it's nice to act unbabyattached for a few minutes.
That was THE DATE. Pretty sweet, huh?

sounds like you had fun. Don't think I am a dance in a public garden to the sweet sound of an ipod kind of person either. Having said that, pre-baby, we had the most wonderful trip to Europe, including an evening in Venice, sitting in the square, watching as a couple waltzed around to the music in their heads. They so looked like they were having fun, and it was enchanting to watch - definitely added to the magic of the place. That said, we didn't do the public dancing that day either!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a sweet evening. I understand about the reluctance to act like a 'big kid!'
ReplyDeleteSusie, that is a beautiful picture of the two of you... especially you! You really are quite lovely, you know. *smile*
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a wonderful time. I know what it's like to hang out for those kid free times. Sometimes, I feel that people look down on me for saying that I really like having no kids around sometimes... like I'm ungrateful, or don't cherish them or something... I'm glad you understand and I'm not the only one!
You look gorgeous Susie with or without black! Glad you had a nice time.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun! For the record though, I don't think I would do the dancing thing either. :) And your outfit is really cute...you look great!
ReplyDeleteYou guys look like Gap ad models!!! (whistle, whistle)!!!
ReplyDeleteand your hair looked amazing!
ReplyDeleteI missed it - was it a special date for some reason? (well, once you have kids any date is special, but you know what I mean.)
ReplyDeleteThat is just awesome. What a great idea for a date! How romantic. I wish someone in my life would do something like that for my hubby and I! I think that sounds so fun! And for the record....I would TOTALLY make hubby dance with me to IPod hooked to speakers in a public park! LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou look great. I agree with you on the swings. I would however danced in the park, but I'm pretty sure my husband would not do it so that would have left me to dance alone...
ReplyDeletesounds like a great date.
ReplyDeletei probably would not have danced in the garden either, unless my man took the lead.
sounds like a great date night! its so hard to break out of parent mold. but I'm told it must be done. : )
ReplyDeleteThis picture of the two of you is just amazingly beautiful. Really. You both are so young and precious. I am glad you did the things that made you feel comfortable on your date, even the disagreement, it comes with the territory. "J. Edgar Hoover", who does he think he's kidding? He's much cuter. I am glad you had fun.
ReplyDeleteLove, Laurie in Ca.

ReplyDeletewow! they really did go all out for your date didnt they!! Much more exciting than my 3rd anniversary... we had no sitter so we hauled all 3 kids with us to a greek restaurant. eek. ANYWHO. I soooo would have went on the swings and danced- you had a good excuse to act crazy :) and as for the date picture. Not sure its appropriate since I dont 'know' you. but you look hot mamma. lol. Black is soooo my friend too :) Congrats on the anniversary!
ReplyDeletethat was great of your sister and her boyfriend to do that for you...you really needed that time together. I am about ready to celebrate my 14th anniversary with my husband. It is so easy to get caught up in life and children that you forget about the couple that started it all! Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteYou look great! It sounds like you guys had fun and needed a little alone time. Happy Anniversary!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! WOW, 3 years already!!! God has done a lot in those three years too!!! Isn't He great! You two look great in that picture!!! I really do miss you guys!!! The envelope thing was cool! I used to do that to Roy when we were in college - I should do something like that again! After 14 1/2 years of marriage I think it would still be fun - especially without the kids!!!
ReplyDeleteLove you guys!!!
