Kitchen no-no's

do not under any circumstances leave the lid sitting on the burner - especially if you think you turned the other element on (you know... the one with the water to boil???).

because this is what happens.

and that's how hot the PLASTIC handle was when i grabbed it with the yellow rag.

my house smells like burnt plastic.

i need to go garage saling on saturday morning now...

  1. I've done that. Impressive, isn;t it? *grin* The noise is pretty loud, too.

  2. Yep, done that before! Although at least your lid stayed in one piece... mine was a pyrex baking dish that when the burner got hot enough, exploded into a million pieces all over the kitchen. Glad to see your clean up was much easier than mine! :o) Have fun at the garage sales!

  3. I have never left that kind of lid on the burner...but durning my first year of marriage I left a plastic measuring cup on a back burner. I thought that I had turned on the front burner when I heard a whooshing sound and ran into the kitchen to see the cup in flames on the back. Gotta love it :-) I am a girl momma as well my 4 year old hates bugs and I don't ever freak out with them. You would think they are killing her if one gets near her. :-) You are always in my thoughts and prayers.

  5. I had to do a double take. I really thought it was a lid on a pot of soapy water. Looked liked bubbles to me. Glad no one got hurt! I wanna go garage sailing too!
