Why thank you...

Ah yes, anytime I post new pictures I get my fill of "Ohhhhh she's gorgeous". Hehe. I'm probably living vicariously through your admiration of my daughter's cuteness.

A few thoughts - two people have mentioned us being a family of four. It's funny that you should mention that. I'll post what I had my parents read at his funeral - which said near end, "Joshua, you made us a family of four, we'll never be three again."

We'll never be three again. And it's hard to think about us as four, but we definitely don't feel like three. I haven't brought myself to take a family photo yet, because it doesn't feel right yet. I don't know that it ever will.

We're packing. I'm procrastinating. I need to go. Matt keeps coming up the stairs and saying, "I need more stuff to pack in the van". Uh... I don't know what else to give him. I keep wandering room to room looking for stuff. Haha.

  1. Maybe in your future family photos you can have someone hold one of Joshua's bears, or something else, to represent him. Because yes, he is always with you and is always a member of your family.

You say your not ready for a family portrait yet.... You have a beautiful one on your webpage here :) I think your family of
    (4) is perfect and always will be.

May God give you what you need and you praise Him for what you didn't even ask for.....

  5. I'm praying for your move...you've certainly got your hands full! I can so relate to wandering around wondering what to do next, I do the same thing when I have a lot to do. I have a difficult time wondering where to start! May God grant you some peace and the ability to differentiate between the urgent things and the important things today!

  6. I'm another who loves your family picture...it's just precious. I love how it shows how small Joshua was. A lot of the other pictures you posted were Joshua all by himself, and this one gives some perspective on what a little guy he was.

  7. Hi Susie,

I completely agree with Sonja, the family photo is already in place and it is beautiful. You were four when I first started reading Joshua's story, and you are still four in my heart. Joshua's life is full and wonderful and such a miracle precious boy who increased my faith. He is bigger than life to me. I am praying for your packing and moving, really. I have lived in the same house for 32 years and collecting clutter. The thought of packing and moving is terrifying. A can of gas and a torch would be easier for me.:) I am excited for you to settle in and take time to catch your breath. I love you guys and will keep praying for blessings for you.

    Love, Laurie in Ca.

  9. I haven't commented in a really long time, but I check in here EVERY single day when I get to work. I'm not that great at knowing what to say or having the right words, so I apologize. Your family is definitely in my thoughts and prayers. I love the picture on your banner of your beautiful family of four. Your story and Joshua's life has touched me in ways I'll never be able to put into words. Thank you for sharing all of this with us.

  11. I love your new photo at the top of the blog - it's a great picture.

Of course you are a family of four! I'm from a family of 7, even though my 3 brothers all died shortly after being born. But I still have 3 brothers, just as you and Matt will always have a son, and Oceana will always have a brother, named Joshua.

  12. You will always be a family of four . One just got to go home first . (((HUGS))) I wear my little girls hair in my locket . Maybe you could have Joshua's name & picture done in a locket. Then, he's always with you .

  13. You are gorgeous too Susie, you are a child of God made in His image and He loves you. You don't have to rush to take another family picture that's ok. If and when you do maybe you could just have Joshua's blanket or something. But you guys are still a family just one's watching over you instead of beside you. Love you and thinking of you every day.

  14. I agree with the others... I don't think you need to worry about taking another family photo yet. The one you have is absolutely perfect. But when you do, there are some neat ways to incorporate Joshua like teddy bears as mentioned, or even a piece of jewelry, a locket or birthstone, for example. So many ways!

You know, I miscarried a baby at 10 weeks just before I got pregnant with my now 6 month old son. When people asked me, "Is this your first child?" I didn't know what to say. I felt like I already had a child, and that Owen was my second. You actually held Joshua, and lived with him, enjoyed his company, and were blessed by him for 67 days. You are ABSOLUTELY a family of four. Family can be scattered all around the world, and in the heavens too.
