I was blessed to receive a new camera lens for Christmas! I was so excited! Out came the camera and I've been shooting all week. The only problem is that I'm still trying to get used to it - and I'm realising that it's a bit of a mission... :)
One thing that's great about the new lens (Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II) is that I can FINALLY shoot without a flash, in aperture priority. My kit lens simply wouldn't work this way! I was so irritated, thinking I just wasn't "getting" photography. But upon slapping a new lens on there, I was surprised to find I'm not such a crappy photograph as I might have thought. Ok, obviously I have a LONG way to go. But I was so excited with these shots!

A gift from Jenny - you'll see her name in the comments pretty often. She sent this for a "Joshua" ornament. Perfect. We are in a New Home. So is he. :)
And Oceana got this stuffed Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer from her Grammy (my mom's mom). Press his ear and his nose lights up. His name is Rudy and she is in love with this guy! He is perfect for hugging, especially when she's heading to bed.
She's such a cheese these day! "Hey Oceana, smile for Momma?" And without any more prompting, I get this!! So cool!
Don't you love that lens? I have one and it is my favorite! Your pics are super!
ReplyDeleteThe photos are priceless. You do a great job. Don't let it get you frustrated. Some of the best artist have their own "style". (and girl have you got style. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the new lense. I love your camera. One day I will have a new one and really know how to use it. But.... until I have a memory that last more than 15 minutes, that won't help will it? LOLOL

That picture of Ocean is precious!!
ReplyDeleteCool new lens! Merry CHristmas!
ReplyDeleteThe 50mm prime lens is an absolute must! It's the only other lens I have too. It's so great for portraits, but I see you've already found that out! ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. My son got the same Rudolf. He absolutely loves it! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteMy oldest daughter(4) has had that Rudolph attached to her since last Christmas. He is in all of her photographs! Unfortunately our nose no longer lights up. Hope she loves her as much as mine loves it!
ReplyDeleteI just wanna pinch her cheeks she is too cute
ReplyDeletelove your photos.

Glad you are thoroughly enjoying the lens. The clarity in those pictures is amazing...and you are an amazing photographer...thanks for the gift idea. You deserve it. The picture of Oceana is too cute! I still need to find an ornament for Joshua. Heather received two with Evan's name...they are so cute.
