Day 12

Joshua is alive and well. He's having his very first "tummy time" and seems to be enjoying it. We'd tried putting him on his tummy before, and I think he was too new. He preferred curling up. So he's basking in the sunshine, watching his new stuffed parrot.

I haven't check the "leak" side of his cele this morning, but I don't see any leaks. He seems a bit less stuffed up than other days, but certainly still has a cold.

Oceana and Daddy are outside working on a construction project out in the front yard. My parents are selling their house and subdividing the land for two properties. Matt's been working on the driveway for the 2nd property for a while now. They're a funny pair, sunblocked, hatted, and working hard. Ok, Oceana just calls everyone's names and gets in the way - but they deal with it. And she loves it.

We FINALLY got out of the house yesterday. We managed to take Joshua to a friend's house - carseat and all. It was so nice to get out! Over half the youth group was at their house [for new readers, we've been youth pastors for a year and a half, but with Joshua's situation, are taking a break]. So a bunch of kids, who wouldn't have gotten to see him otherwise, got to "ooh" and "ahh". And I got out of the house... feels like like prison now. :)

It's very hot here. I'm not rubbing it in for those of you who are experiencing the winter cold, but it's too hot. Poor Joshua starts the day in a sleeper and by noon is in a diaper and a tshirt and then at dinner he's back in his sleeper. And his mommy wishes she could go swimming. Darn it....

Not much else to report today.
We love you all.

  2. Hi, this is Sarah from N.Y.C. You don't know me but my best friend emailed me the lyrics to the Chris Tomlin song this morning while I was at work (I'm a teacher). My supervisor walked in on me while I was reading and I was all choked up. Sigh...

I just finished reading your posts. I am so happy for you that you have more time with Joshua than you expected. He is a beautiful little miracle.

    His strength is perfect
    When our strength is gone
    He'll carry us
    When we can't carry on
    Raised in His power
    The weak become strong
    His strength is perfect...
    His strength is perfect...

I wish I could give you a hug or something and also hold little Joshua. It's awesome to be around miracles.

    Love,
    Sarah

  3. This is something I wrote a while ago when I was going through something. I hope it blesses and encourages you!

You are my strength when I am weak. When my body is wracked with pain and I feel I can't get out of bed. When the baby won't sleep and my eyes won't stay open. You are my strength when the kids won't obey and I find myself at the end of my rope. You are the strength that drives me on. You are the strength that holds me still. You are my motivation. You come along side of me when all seems lost to remind me that this world cannot hold me back from you. You are the strength that defies what the world says and teaches me to stand in your mercy, glory, and grace. You are the strength that guides me out of this orphanage and into my eternal home. You are the strength that convinces me that I am valuable. You are the strength that throws my sins far away--casts them so far away they are completely forgotten. You are my strength to continue to love when I don't feel I have anymore love within myself.

    Blessings,

    Debbie
